Jayse Holman was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauren Mester, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Delaina Nicewander, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Mount Horeb was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Baraboo fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Reedsburg on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Beavers by a score of 7-6.
Addison Kohler was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Stella Cognac, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Baraboo's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Mount Horeb, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
Everything went Mount Horeb's way against Baraboo when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Mount Horeb made off with a 10-3 win. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Thunderbirds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
