John Velasco of De La Salle ran for the longest rushing play in Freelance this season against California last week. Velasco's team beat the Grizzlies as he sprinted for 80 yards on the play and finished with 184 in all.
De La Salle extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating California, 55-0. The victory was the 10th in a row for the team.
The Spartans' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Chris Williams threw for 92 and 1 touchdown and Marquis Morris had 60 yards receiving. On the ground Velasco contributed 184 yards. Sam Phillips helped De La Salle's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 32 yards.
Velasco provided a threat through the air and on the ground as De La Salle bested Eric Billeci's team. Velasco's key target this week was Morris, who caught 3 passes for 60 yards.
Velasco was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Antoine Custer added to the ground attack by rushing for 92 yards.
De La Salle's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Spartans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Williams has thrown for 962 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Morris has 18 catches for 352 yards.
Logan took down Mission San Jose 71-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
