Basketball Recap: Isaiah Hill's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Vistamar over Geffen Academy

If Vistamar was feeling good fresh off their 67-45 takedown of Hawthorne Math & Science Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Vistamar Vikings took a 61-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Geffen Academy Bruins on Wednesday. The Vikings have struggled against the Bruins recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Vistamar lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Isaiah Hill, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Hill's evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Landon McMorris, who almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Vistamar was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Geffen Academy only posted three assists.

Nathan M continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Geffen Academy, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 11 boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which M has scored at least a third of Geffen Academy's points.

The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 5-2. As for Geffen Academy, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.

Vistamar didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-32 victory against Wildwood on the 13th. As for Geffen Academy, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Rolling Hills Prep at 4:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
