After soaring to 67 points the game before, the Douglas County Huskies were a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Rock Canyon on the road and fell 60-19. Douglas County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-8.
Douglas County's loss came despite strong showings from Peighton Lemp and Sofia Baldessari. Lemp scored nine points along with five rebounds, while Baldessari scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals. Baldessari hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Brooke Harding continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rock Canyon, scoring 24 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Harding continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Alyssa Goode was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five assists and five steals.
Douglas County's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Rock Canyon, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.
Douglas County will be playing in front of their home fans against ThunderRidge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. ThunderRidge presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Douglas County in Colorado (ThunderRidge is ranked 35th, while Douglas County is ranked 92nd). As for Rock Canyon, they will head out on the road to challenge Regis Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Regis Jesuit is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
