Laguna Acoma has gone a perfect 3-0 against Hozho Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Hawks will head out on the road to challenge the Wolves at 4:00 p.m. Laguna Acoma has given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Laguna Acoma's last matchup with Grants could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Monday. The Hawks lost 14-5 to the Pirates. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Brianna Filmer was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Lorenzo, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hozho Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They blew past Zuni 19-5 on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won nine matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Alysha Skeets made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Hozho Academy got a massive performance out of Iris Albert, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Nahliyah Morgan was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Hozho Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .565. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Zuni only posted a batting average of .286.
Hozho Academy's record now sits at 12-2. As for Laguna Acoma, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.
Everything went Laguna Acoma's way against Hozho Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Laguna Acoma made off with a 19-3 victory. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
