South Putnam has gone a perfect 3-0 against Southmont recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Eagles will face off against the Mounties at 7:00 p.m. South Putnam's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Southmont's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
South Putnam is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against North Putnam, sneaking past 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since April 24th.

Taylor Boyce
05/26/25 vs North Putnam | 9 |
05/14/25 vs West Vigo | 9 |
05/10/25 vs North Putnam | 13 |
05/10/25 vs Greencastle | 9 |
The result came thanks to Taylor Boyce's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, South Putnam saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Carpenter, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Southmont and North Montgomery faced off in a cross-town battle on Thursday. The Mounties blew past the Chargin' Chargers 12-4. The Mounties might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.
Ella Barry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up 12 Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Catie Himes, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie Douglas, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for South Putnam and bumps their season record up to 15-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Southmont, their victory bumped their record up to 15-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. South Putnam has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Southmont struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
South Putnam took their win against Southmont in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 16-4 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mounties turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
