Fans got a thrill when Cody Watson and Dallas Lyles connected against Duke. The longest such play in A District 4 this season, the connection resulted in 55 yards.
Sarian Smith of Velma-Alma ran for the longest rushing play in the league this season against Elmore City-Pernell last week. Smith ran for 91 yards on the play and finished with 97 on the day as his team defeated the Badgers.
Bray-Doyle's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Watson threw for 137 and 2 touchdowns and Lyles had 55 yards receiving. Two of the top teams in the league will go toe-to-toe this week when Greg Gothard's team takes on Ringling. The Comets' offense has scored 60 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Blue Devils have allowed only 34 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Velma-Alma takes on Ringling. At the moment, the Comets are in first, while Tracy Gandy's team is in third.
Empire moved up to 193 from 227 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bulldogs were able to move up by falling to Dibble 38-20.
