Video: Rechon Black highlightsFuture North Carolina Tar Heel is an intriguing guard prospect at 6-foot-7.The backcourt was getting a little crowded at
Montverde Academy (Fla.) with MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year
R.J. Barrett and
Andrew Nembhard being joined by transfers
Joe Bamisile, Michael Devoe,
R.J. Hampton and
Markquis Nowell this offseason.
So future North Carolina Tar Heel
Rechon Black is electing to leave the national power to return to his home state to play for
Cox Mill (Concord, N.C.), according to
Langston Wertz Jr. of the Charlotte Observer.
The 6-foot-7 point guard was considered one of North Carolina's top prospects as a sophomore at Concord High School, averaging 14.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game for the 23-5 Spiders.
But Black made the move to Montverde last summer and was lost in the shuffle a bit on a crowded roster that featured at least eight surefire future Division I signees.
At Cox Mill, Black will join first 2016-17 MaxPreps Sophomore All-American
Wendell Moore Jr., who averaged 25.0 points, 9.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists in leading the program to the Class 3A state title.
247Sports has Black pegged as the No. 55 overall prospect in the Class of 2018. His recruitment never really got off the ground with an early commitment to North Carolina but Clemson, Tennessee and Virginia Tech were among other programs to extend an offer.

Rechon Black is returning to North Carolina for his final year of high school basketball.
