The Valley Regional Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the New Milford Green Wave at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though North Branford scored an imposing 55 points on Thursday, Valley Regional still came out on top. Valley Regional strolled past North Branford with points to spare, taking the game 69-55.
Noah Dolinsky and Conor Quinn were among the main playmakers for Valley Regional as the former scored 25 points along with five assists and five rebounds and the latter went 8 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and 3 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Rex Grabowski, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, New Milford took care of business in their home opener on Thursday (barely). They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Wheeler 57-54.
New Milford had a senior duo take command as Ryder Gee scored 16 points along with five rebounds and Nathan Gray scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Kelvin Mendoza, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Valley Regional's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-0. As for New Milford, their win bumped their record up to an identical 1-0.
Valley Regional came up short against New Milford in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 44-31. Thankfully for Valley Regional, Nico Coloneri (who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
