The Trinity Christian School of Griffin LIONS's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 54-30 loss at the hands of Pike County.
Trinity Christian School of Griffin's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aubrey Spitzer, who scored 8 points along with 6 rebounds. Spitzer scored a full 26.7% of Trinity Christian School of Griffin's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nabilah Akhtar, who scored 7 points.
Pike County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sadie Lewis led the charge by scoring 15 points along with 5 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Lewis has scored at least 25% of Pike County's points. Another player making a difference was Rylin Cleven, who scored 14 points.
Trinity Christian School of Griffin's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Pike County, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trinity Christian School of Griffin will take on Central Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pike County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crawford County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Crawford County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Saturday.
