If the Avonworth Antelopes were riding high off their 88-56 takedown of the Bishop Canevin Crusaders on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Avonworth took a 79-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of Taylor Allderdice on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Leading Taylor Allderdice to victory were Major Rainey and Logan Golle. Rainey scored 21 points along with eight rebounds, while Golle scored 25 points. That's the first time this season that Rainey pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Pavle Slepcev, who scored two points along with 14 rebounds and six assists.
Avonworth's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Taylor Allderdice, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Avonworth will head out on the road to face off against Union Area at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Union Area will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 519th, while Avonworth is ranked 75th). Taylor Allderdice will be home for the holidays to greet Pine-Richland at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Pine-Richland and Taylor Allderdice are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
