The Mullen Mustangs will challenge the Mountain View Mountain Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mullen is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Mullen turned things around against Smoky Hill on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Buffalo with a sharp 10-2 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Mustangs needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Jake Clark looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Mullen: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 4-8 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Charlie Krza was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Mullen's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Christy, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Mullen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, while it was Mountain View who put the first runs on the board on Monday, it was Wellington who put up more. The Mountain Lions fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 3-2. The Mountain Lions' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Gayge Goode spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits.
At the plate, Mountain View saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jevin Dorcey, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Brady Moro was another, going 2-for-3 with one triple.
Mountain View's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Mullen, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 6-9.
Mullen beat Mountain View 5-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mountain Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
