Frankton's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Rowan Branham, who threw for 144 yards and three touchdowns, and Eli Wachs, who rushed for 116 yards and one TD. Those 116 rushing yards gave Wachs a new career-high. Trey Bennett was in the mix too, providing Frankton with two scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Frankton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 221 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Frankton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Wyatt Marsh, Caine Oakley, Tracy Wells, and Bennett picked up one apiece. Marsh got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Western, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They snuck past West Lafayette with a 20-14 win on Friday.
Western had a senior duo take command as Levi Shoemaker rushed for 205 yards and one touchdown and Brycen Rucker rushed for 48 yards and a pair of TDs. With that strong performance, Shoemaker is now averaging an impressive 109.1 rushing yards per game.
Western's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.2 points over those games. As for Frankton, their victory bumped their record up to 2-8.
