Pinellas Park is 8-2 against Hollins since February of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Pinellas Park will square off against Hollins at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Pinellas Park and four for Hollins.
Pinellas Park might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 4-3 to IMG Academy White, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Pinellas Park got a good showing from Jack Inman, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Inman gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.
On the hitting side, Dean Ross made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that he hit this season. Graham Matus was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, Hollins came up short against Countryside on Thursday and fell 4-1.
Teagan Davies was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Herbert, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Pinellas Park's record is now 5-10. As for Hollins, their record now sits at 4-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pinellas Park has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hollins struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Pinellas Park came out on top in a nail-biter against Hollins in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pinellas Park since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
