After losing to the Chinle Wildcats the last time they met, the Monument Valley Mustangs decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Monument Valley enjoyed a cozy 63-47 win over Chinle on Friday.
Monument Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Corey Sandoval, who scored 19 points along with three blocks and two steals. Keiryn Mann was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Chinle had strong showings from Qoah Yazzie, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists, and Dizhoon White, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Neveah Jishie, who scored five points along with two steals.
Monument Valley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season. As for Chinle, they dropped their record down to 11-15 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
Monument Valley will take on Ganado at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Monument Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday. Chinle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
