East Central HomeSchool extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 8-11 in the process. They lost 11-3 to the Wiregrass Kings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Kings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-9 two weeks ago.
Andrew Barksdale was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Isaac Davis was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
As for Wiregrass, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games.
On Wiregrass' side, Zach Crisler and Owen Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Crisler tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Brown pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Crisler went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Brown went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Wiregrass is undefeated when Brown posts two or more runs, but 4-9 otherwise.
In other batting news, Brayden Treadaway was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Wiregrass: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-9 otherwise. Jake Spann also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
As of now, neither East Central HomeSchool nor Wiregrass have any future games scheduled.
