The Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks will head out on the road to take on the Marathon Dolphins at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Port St. Joe will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Wakulla Christian School on Thursday. Port St. Joe never let Wakulla Christian School get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The Tiger Sharks haven't had any issues with the Saints recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Eli Harris was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Harris was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Port St. Joe let Eli Godwin and Brody Mock run wild. Godwin scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Mock scored three runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance gave Mock a new career-high in hits. Peyton Knox was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Port St. Joe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, everything went Marathon's way against Miami Country Day on Friday as Marathon made off with a 10-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Dolphins.
Roco Piscetello made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabriel Leal, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Bryan Broche, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
The win got Port St. Joe back to even at 7-7. As for Marathon, their record now sits at 9-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Port St. Joe has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game.
