Abbie Kegley made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Hannah Tober was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kenley Rowe, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Tabb earned a 4-1 win over Jamestown on Tuesday.
Jada Olexa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lakelyn Bagheri, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Milenah Camacho was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
New Kent pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.2 runs over those games. As for Tabb, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Tabb's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. New Kent has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Tabb, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will New Kent keep running through batters, or will the Tigers buck the trend?
New Kent took their win against Tabb when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 18-7 score. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
