The Terrell County Greenwave's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They lost to Monroe at home by a decisive 73-55 margin. Terrell County has not had much luck with Monroe recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Several Greenwave players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Shaheed Huckaby, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Cordarius Perry, who scored 12 points.
Justin Burns was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds for Monroe. The contest was Burns' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Jaquan Maddox was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds.
Terrell County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Monroe, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Terrell County and Calhoun County will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Calhoun County has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 427 points over their last six games. As for Monroe, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crisp County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Crisp County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 267th, while Monroe is ranked 26th).
