Softball Recap: Broughton Drops Season-High Score on Knightdale

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Broughton). They put the hurt on the Knightdale Knights with a sharp 23-5 win on Wednesday. The Capitals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by ten runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Lucy Bertram, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Avery Troxell, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Broughton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Broughton's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Knightdale, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Broughton will have a chance to go back-to-back against Knightdale: the pair will be back at it again later today.
