The Canon City Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their eighth straight defeat. They fell just short of Coronado by a score of 48-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Canon City has suffered since January 6th.
Realiti Smith was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds for Coronado. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyrik Smith, who scored ten points.
Canon City has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 13 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Coronado, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-12.
Canon City will be playing in front of their home fans against Harrison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Canon City is on a five-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Harrison a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Coronado, they will head out on the road to square off against Widefield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Coronado is facing Widefield at the right time seeing as Widefield is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
