The Zionsville Eagles fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Brownsburg Bulldogs on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 74-72. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Zionsville came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Brownsburg is ranked 53rd).
Despite the loss, Zionsville still got an impressive performance from Allie Caldwell, who scored 27 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists. Caldwell hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Haan, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Zionsville's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-6. As for Brownsburg, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-11.
Zionsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Brownsburg will face off against Avon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Avon is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
