Cannon  took care of business in their home opener  (and then some) on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Gaston Day Spartans with a sharp  19-2 victory. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive  win against them.
 Maddock Griffin looked comfortable as he  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only two  hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. That's the fewest  hits  he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

 On the hitting side, Cannon got a  massive  performance out of  Owen Fox, who  scored three  runs and  stole three bases while  getting on base  in all three of his plate appearances. Those  three  stolen bases gave  Fox a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Mason Mierzwa, who  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
 Cannon  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gaston Day only posted  an  OBP of  .238.
 Looking ahead, Cannon will venture away from home to  face off against Grace Christian  at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Gaston Day, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Hickory Christian Academy  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
