The Solomon Gorillas's game last Saturday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top against Herington by a score of 53-44. That's another feather in the cap for Solomon, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Spencer Coup continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Calvin Mattison was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Despite the loss, Herington still got an impressive performance from Mason Mortensen, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That was a full 40.9% of Herington's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Tyus Becker, who scored four points along with seven steals and five rebounds.
Solomon now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Herington, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Solomon will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Warriors on January 23rd. As for Herington, they will face off against the Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
