It was a good run, but Ironton unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 52-45 to the Zane Trace Pioneers. The Fighting Tigers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Pioneers from their previous meeting back in March of 2020.
Several Fighting Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bryce Markins, who shot 45% from the field en route to 15 points. That's the most points Markins has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddix Markel, who had ten points and six rebounds.
Zane Trace got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gunnar McCullough out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. McCullough is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Grady Stewart, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 14 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.
Ironton's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Zane Trace, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-4.
Ironton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Zane Trace, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-51 defeat against Minford on the 28th.
