Shenandoah and Randolph Southern are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. Shenandoah suffered their biggest defeat since November 24, 2023 on Thursday. They were the victim of a rough 54-30 defeat at the hands of Lapel. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Shenandoah has suffered against Lapel since January 12, 2017.
Despite their loss, Shenandoah saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Rory McKnight, who scored five points along with three steals, was perhaps the best of all. McKnight is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Lilliana Lynch was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Meanwhile, Randolph Southern beat Union County 45-33 on Wednesday.
Randolph Southern found their leader in underclassman Haileigh Allen, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Bree Smith, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Shenandoah and nudges their season record down to 8-9. As for Randolph Southern, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Saturday's match will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Grace Lee and Allen. Lee has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 10.1 points, 3.3 steals, and 5 rebounds. For her part, Allen has averaged 16.5 points, 1.8 blocks, and 1.6 steals.
Saturday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Shenandoah have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 33.8% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Randolph Southern, though, as they've only made 34.6% of their threes per game this season.
