After a string of three wins, the Richards Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. Their rough 73-51 defeat to Bradley-Bourbonnais might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Richards has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Richards lost, one person who can't be blamed is David Thomas. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Thomas scored a full 47.1% of Richards' points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Davon Simpson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Richards' loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Bradley-Bourbonnais, their win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2.
Richards won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Catalyst-Maria at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th. Catalyst-Maria will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 715th, while Richards is ranked 341st). As for Bradley-Bourbonnais, they will head out on the road to face off against Sandburg at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Sandburg's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
