The Canutillo Eagles will face off against the El Paso Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Canutillo will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
Canutillo is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Jefferson with a sharp 18-4 win on Tuesday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Paul Zuniga made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Nicholas Alvarez looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

Back at the plate, Emilio Melendez was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Ernesto Ramirez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Canutillo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in nine consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, El Paso posted their closest victory since March 3rd on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Burges 7-5. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Moises Castanon and Austin Slagel made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Castanon tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Slagel tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. At bat, Castanon went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Slagel went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dalin Beltran, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Omar Nunez, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Canutillo's victory bumped their record up to 13-8-1. As for El Paso, their win bumped their record up to 11-8-1.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Canutillo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. However, it's not like El Paso struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Canutillo suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to El Paso in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
