Baseball Recap: Laurel Sets Scoring Season-High Against Arcadia

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Laurel). They put the hurt on the Arcadia Firebirds with a sharp 15-2 victory on Friday. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Firebirds, too.

Laurel let Derek Copeland and Tristen Johnson run wild. Copeland went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Johnson went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Copeland a new career-high. Kade Willey also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

With the win, Laurel broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-12-1. As for Arcadia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laurel will host Delmar at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Arcadia, they will take on Northampton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.38 runs per game on average), something the Firebirds will no doubt try to take advantage of.
