Pendleton County and Paris are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Greyhounds at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pendleton County has three straight victories, Paris has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Pendleton County had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Holmes on Saturday. The Wildcats blew past the Bulldogs 18-4. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by eight runs or more this season.

Jacob Frisch made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, earning two runs and two stolen bases. Pendleton County is undefeated when Frisch posts two or more runs, but 6-9 otherwise.
In other batting news, Pendleton County got a massive performance out of Easton Verst, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Verst is becoming a predictor of the Wildcats' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 3-8 when he doesn't). Jayden Ford was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.
Pendleton County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.2.
Bourbon County hit Paris with a five-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Greyhounds took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Colonels.
The win got Pendleton County back to even at 9-9. As for Paris, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
Everything went Pendleton County's way against Paris in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Pendleton County made off with a 13-5 victory. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Greyhounds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
