Rayne won against Loreauville last Tuesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Wolves never let the Port Barre Red Devils get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Rayne got a great performance from Peyton Daigle as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Daigle has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rylan Fontenot, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Kainon Suiter was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base.
Rayne has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Port Barre, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-18-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rayne will head out to face off against Lafayette Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Port Barre, they will square off against Sacred Heart at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
