The Angleton Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Almeta Crawford Chargers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Angleton will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Angleton is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by an 11-3 margin over Santa Fe on Friday. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly eight runs.
Bella Nava looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lily Calderon, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Ambi Linscombe also deserves some recognition as she stole her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Almeta Crawford, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They blew past Fort Bend Kempner 23-13 on Tuesday. Considering the Chargers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Adriana Pomales-Ng was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
In other batting news, Almeta Crawford got a massive performance out of Tiffany Rodriguez, who scored four runs and stole nine bases while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was Naidelyn Vera, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 5-for-5.
Almeta Crawford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .537. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Angleton's record now sits at 6-1. As for Almeta Crawford, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-3.
