The Union Pines Vikings can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They managed a 60-55 victory over Scotland. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Trent Hilburn continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zion Kiser, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Several Fighting Scots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaquez Caldwell, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Caldwell hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Lampley, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Union Pines' victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-9. As for Scotland, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union Pines will square off against Richmond at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Averaging 77.33 points so far this season, Richmond's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Union Pines better be ready for a challenge. As for Scotland, they will head out on the road to face off against Pinecrest at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Scotland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
