The Central Raiders came tearing into Tuesday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 68-53 victory over Argonia. Given Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Red Raiders are ranked 316th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Red Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Filippo Leonardi, who scored 20 points along with two steals and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Dalton Morrison, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2-1 record this season. As for Argonia, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central will face off against the Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Argonia, they will head out on the road to challenge the Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
