Emma Brandt made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.
In other batting news, Madi Grefe was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Claire Whitcraft, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Bloom-Carroll kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Hayes got the win against Lincoln on Friday by a conclusive 10-4. The Pacers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.
Hayes let Grace Singleton and Lizzy Gould run wild. Singleton went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Gould went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Gould has posted since back in April. Zee Brown was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Hayes' victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Bloom-Carroll, their record is now 20-2.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bloom-Carroll has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .510. However, it's not like Hayes struggles in that department as they've averaged .481. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
