The Sam Houston Broncos's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 46-32 bruising from New Iberia. While losing is never fun, Sam Houston can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while New Iberia is ranked 11th).
New Iberia was led to victory by Otis Anderson and Wayne Randall-bashay. Anderson scored 13 points along with eight rebounds, while Randall-bashay scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Kentravion Smith, who scored four points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Sam Houston's loss dropped their record down to 16-13. As for New Iberia, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season.
Sam Houston will head out on the road to challenge Iowa at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Iowa will roll in looking for their 18th straight victory, something Sam Houston surely won't give up without a fight. As for New Iberia, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. New Iberia is coming into the matchup with seven straight wins at home, meaning Southside will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory.
