Water Valley is on an eight-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Bruce a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Water Valley Blue Devils will challenge the Bruce Trojans at 6:30 p.m. Water Valley has given up an average of 17.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Water Valley's last matchup with J.Z. George could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Friday. The Blue Devils lost 22-9 to the Jaguars.
Kristaney Reed made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryley Hill, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Bruce made sure to put some runs up on the board against Shannon on Saturday. The Trojans were the clear victors by an 18-8 margin over the Red Raiders. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Red Raiders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Bruce got a massive performance out of Leah Clark, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those two triples gave Clark a new career-high. Sadie Box was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Bruce hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.
Water Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Bruce, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Water Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .440. However, it's not like Bruce struggles in that department as they've averaged .529. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Water Valley might still be hurting after the 20-0 defeat they got from Bruce in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
