Elizabethton (Tenn.) saw its 13-point lead dwindle to seven, but still managed to hang on and defeat
Scott (Huntsville, Tenn.) 27-20 on Saturday.
The Fighting Cyclones led 14-7 at halftime, but the Highlanders recaptured the lead on a touchdown with 10:00 remaining in the third. Elizabethton grabbed hold of the lead when
Ethan Thomas ran for a touchdown with 2:00 to go in the third quarter, and never relinquished it.
Each side put up seven points during the third quarter, and at the beginning of the fourth it was still a seven point game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Scott, which notched a 55-27 victory over Cumberland Gap in its previous outing.
