Last Friday, Hodgeman County didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Kiowa County, but they still walked away with a 59-53 victory.
It was another big night for Owen Reece, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it 16 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Hodgeman County's points. Ian Reece was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Pawnee Heights' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They lost to Ingalls on the road by a decisive 63-49 margin.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Brady Carlson, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Davin Hamby, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Hodgeman County's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Pawnee Heights, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-13.
Monday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Reece and Hamby. Reece has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 27.8 points, 1.9 blocks, and 9.1 rebounds. For his part, Hamby has averaged 14.1 points, 2.9 steals, and 3.1 assists.
