Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Walsingham Academy). They strolled past the Norfolk Christian Ambassadors with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 71-54. This was a revenge game for the Trojans: when they faced off against the Ambassadors back in December of 2024, they had to take a 59-41 loss.
Norfolk Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James 'Boogie' Sellers, who posted ten points along with six rebounds and four steals. Sellers is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed four or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Holmes, who scored seven points and 12 boards.
Walsingham Academy's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 5-15. As for Norfolk Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.
Coming up, Walsingham Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Walsingham Academy likes a good challenge.
