Basketball Game Preview: Apostolic Christian vs. Apostolic Christian Academy Flames

After both having extra time off, Apostolic Christian and the Apostolic Christian Academy Flames will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Apostolic Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.7 points per game this season.

Two weeks ago, Apostolic Christian might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Christian Academy of Knoxville an easy 84-60 win. While losing is never fun, Apostolic Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while Christian Academy of Knoxville is ranked 62nd).

Despite the defeat, Apostolic Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Rogan Bailey went 10 of 17 on his way to 23 points. With that strong performance, Bailey is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Wilson, who posted seven points.

Meanwhile, Apostolic Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch two weeks ago as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a hard 64-48 fall against Temple Baptist Academy. One positive for the Flames, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Apostolic Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season. As for Apostolic Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Everything came up roses for Apostolic Christian against Apostolic Christian Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 72-42 victory. In that matchup, Apostolic Christian amassed a halftime lead of 47-20, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
