Monticello barely beat Clinton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Sages blew past the Maroons 12-1 on Wednesday. Considering the Sages have won 15 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Monticello is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Clinton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monticello will square off against Champaign Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Sages 2.5, the Maroons 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Clinton, they will face off against St. Teresa at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
