After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sierra Vista, the Rancho Rams were happy to have found some success on Friday. They walked away with a 53-41 victory over Green Valley. That's another feather in the cap for Rancho, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Rancho was led to victory by Taylor Dagons and Claudia Vargas-Arellano. Dagons scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, while Vargas-Arellano scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. That's the first time this season that Dagons pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Crystal Padilla, who scored five points.
When it comes to explaining why Green Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gianessa Vazquez. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Tabitha Bwakamba was another key contributor, scoring two points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Green Valley were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Rancho has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Green Valley, their loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 5-15.
