The Chula Vista Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Olympian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chula Vista will be looking to keep their ten-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Chula Vista can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup two weeks ago. They blew past San Ysidro, posting a 34-0 win at home. Given Chula Vista's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 453rd, while San Ysidro is ranked 959th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chula Vista got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was La'Darrione Perkins out in front who rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns. Perkins was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. Another player making a difference was Paul Alvarez, who rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Meanwhile, with a playoff game on the line, Olympian rose to the challenge on Friday. They took down Escondido Charter 31-15. The victory was nothing new for Olympian as they're now sitting on four straight.
The critical scores for Olympian came from Jayden Fuentes, Ceejay Clavier, and Aj Cadriel.
Chula Vista's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Olympian, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
