Basketball Recap: Roncalli Sets Scoring Season-High Against Cathedral

Roncalli had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They strolled past the Cathedral Fighting Irish with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 72-54. The Royals' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Roncalli to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elliot Leffler, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds. The match was Leffler's sixth in a row with at least 16 points. Brennah Cerny was another key player, on her way to 18 points and six steals.

Despite the loss, Cathedral still got an impressive performance from Jaeda Wilson, who posted 20 points and six boards. Wilson has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Abby Beasley, who scored six points and four steals.

Roncalli has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.6 points over those games. Cathedral's defeat dropped their record down to 18-10.

Roncalli didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-58 loss against Greensburg on the 22nd. Cathedral does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
