Basketball Recap: Lake Travis Comes Up Short

On Friday, the Lake Travis Cavaliers came up short against the St. Michael's Warriors and fell 56-44. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while the Warriors are ranked fourth).

Despite the loss, Lake Travis still got an impressive performance from Adrian Mathis, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 17 points and five assists. Mathis is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Joshua Kline was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Michael's to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bo Ogden, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds. That's the most points Ogden has posted since back in November. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Barkley, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 15 points along with six boards and three steals.

Lake Travis' defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for St. Michael's, they pushed their record up to 16-2 with the win, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Lake Travis will take on Del Valle in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th. Lake Travis is facing Del Valle at the right time seeing as Del Valle is stuck on a three-game losing streak. St. Michael's and Liberal Arts & Science Academy - Austin will compete for holiday cheer at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Michael's knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 contests -- so hopefully Liberal Arts & Science Academy - Austin likes a good challenge.
