Baseball Recap: Piper Extends Winning Streak to Four

Piper won the last time they faced Turner and things went their way on Thursday too. The Pirates walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Golden Bears. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Jack Bakarich spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mason Porter was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jovahni Perez, who earned one RBI, two runs, and three stolen bases.

Piper's record is now 13-9. As for Turner, their loss was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-18.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Piper will square off against West at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Turner, they will take on Leavenworth at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the PIONEERS have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
