Khalia Rodriguez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Abigail Acensio was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Kassidy Rodriguez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Venice always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .795. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles CES hadn't done well against Fairfax recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Unicorns walked away with a 10-7 win over the Lions.
Venice's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.
