The GVCS Broadfording Lions were the 70-43 winner over the McConnellsburg Spartans when they last played one another back in February of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. GVCS Broadfording was outmatched by McConnellsburg on the road and fell 67-35. GVCS Broadfording has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, GVCS Broadfording still got an impressive performance from Jordan Shifler, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
McConnellsburg found their leader in underclassman Brayden Ramsey, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Ramsey has been hot recently, having posted three or more blocks the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dom Jefferson, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
GVCS Broadfording has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-24 record this season. As for McConnellsburg, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 19-2.
GVCS Broadfording will head out on the road to face off against Hedgesville at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Hedgesville's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while GVCS Broadfording has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road. McConnellsburg will take on Fannett Metal at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
