Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Eastern's Third in Last Four Outings

Eastern played against Western on Tuesday and won via forfeit.

Leah Rader made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Libby Poorman was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Kelly Wells was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Eastern is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Western, their loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-12.

Eastern does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Western, they will take on Symmes Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
